Dear friends and members of the Foothills Unitarian Church,
It is my joy and honor to be selected as your candidate for Foothills' next Senior Minister. Watching the ways that the congregation has shared their ideas and vision, hopes and needs to the Search Committee, and seeing the ways the Search Committee took their work so seriously and with such dedication has been a truly inspiring process. Still, I did not decide to apply for the Senior Minister position until the Search Committee completed its work and sent me the congregational record and the results of its "Big Listen." Only then did I feel confident that what you were looking for and needing in a Senior Minister aligned with what I felt I could offer and share in the role. The extensive interviews with the Search Committee solidified this confidence. It was a true process of mutual discovery and discernment that ultimately led to our shared conclusion of hope and promise for our new partnership. I am grateful for their time and care - and all of your time and care - so that we can be confident about our fit and potential as Senior Minister and Congregation. I realize that an inside candidate brings particular gifts and challenges that can both likely be summed up as: "we know each other." Still, while that is true to some degree, there's a lot that remains unknown and yet to be discovered in our potential new roles and partnership. The coming weeks offer us a time of shared consideration and discernment so that we might meet each other again as if for the first time, to create a new space, and to see what we discover there in the clearing. For these reasons, I have structured my packet information in 4 primary categories: what you already know, what you may not know about me, our new ministry partnership, and finally, what I see as the questions on our hearts and minds. To begin, I invite you to click on the button above, "Rev. Gretchen Haley's Ministerial Packet," (or simply click here) which will bring you to a dynamic presentation overviewing all four of these categories (it may take a moment to load, and may not work on all portable devices). After that, return here where you can delve into all of these areas in the order, pace, and depth that you need. Once you have reviewed all of this material, then I look forward to meeting you during the upcoming candidating week beginning November 8th - you, my friends and partners over these last three plus years, and also you who might become new and even stronger partners in our ministry partnership of the future. Looking forward to it all. With gratitude and in partnership, Gretchen |
